Run for Office
City councils, school boards, and county offices shape daily life in Tarrant County. They need more people who believe in less government. That could be you.
How We Help Candidates
Get started
Our Candidate Coordinator helps you pick a race, understand what it takes, and plan your campaign.
Boots on the ground
We turn out TCLP volunteers for block walks, phone banks, and candidate forums.
Get the word out
We promote our candidates to members and followers across Facebook, X, Meetup, Discord, and email.
Campaign materials
Our marketing volunteers can help with flyers, yard signs, and literature.
Two Kinds of Races
Nonpartisan local races
City council, mayor, school board, and other local offices. No party label appears on the ballot, and you file directly with the city or district.
This is where most new Libertarian candidates start, and where we can help you most. It’s also the only kind of race where the TCLP can endorse a candidate.
Partisan races
County, state, and federal offices. In Texas, Libertarian nominees are chosen at party conventions, not in primaries.
Talk to us early. Nomination timelines start well before the election.
Filing deadlines and fees vary by office. Check with the Texas Secretary of State or your city secretary, and ask us. We’ll help you find the right dates.
Thinking About Running?
You don’t need a finished plan. Tell us a little about yourself and the kind of office you’re considering, and our Candidate Coordinator will reach out to talk it through.
No commitment. It’s a conversation.

Seek the TCLP endorsement
Running in a nonpartisan local race, like city council, mayor, or school board? Fill out our questionnaire. We share answers with our members so they can see where you stand on liberty. Endorsements are for nonpartisan local races only.
