About the TCLP

Minimum Government. Maximum Freedom.

The Tarrant County Libertarian Party is the county affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Texas. We recruit and back candidates for local office, defend fair elections, and organize Libertarians across Tarrant County.

Our Mission

We recruit and support candidates for public office, and we promote the Statement of Principles of the Libertarian Party of Texas.

That is the purpose written into our bylaws, and everything else we do serves it. We believe the best decisions about your life, your property, and your community are made by you, not by government.

Think locally. Act locally. City councils, school boards, and county commissioners shape daily life in Tarrant County more than Washington does, so that is where we focus.

What We Do

Run for office

We find Libertarians willing to run for municipal, county, and district office, help them launch campaigns, and turn out volunteers for block walks and candidate forums.

Protect the ballot

We place Libertarians on the Early Voting Ballot Board, so no single party handles your ballot without someone else watching.

Build community

We host meetups and events, and work with issue groups across DFW on protests, rallies, and causes that matter to liberty.

Our fight right now

The law says equal. Tarrant County appointed 14 to 3.

Texas law requires the same number of Ballot Board members from each party. We are taking the county to court to enforce it.

How We're Organized

The party’s business is run by an eight-member County Executive Committee: a County Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, plus four Commissioner’s Precinct Representatives who speak for the precinct chairs in each county commissioner’s precinct.

Officers are elected by members at the County Convention. Precinct chairs organize Libertarians at the neighborhood level.

Open to the Public

The Executive Committee holds at least one business meeting every quarter, and every meeting is open to the public. Meetings are announced on our Facebook page and in the #tclp-scheduled-events channel on our Discord server.

We publish our rules and our records so you can hold us to them.
